THINGS TO SEE AND DO
Daytrips
There are numerous places of interest to visit, even if you don't wish to venture too far from Kalkan. Organised excursions to many beauty spots and areas of archeological interest are available, departing from Kalkan. A popular trip is taking a boat to the island of Simena, where you pass by the ancient sunken city of Kekova. The nearby hill village of Bezirgan is not to be missed, as it's like stepping back in time, where they farm using traditional methods. The amazing Saklikent Gorge is 20km long and because it is so narrow and steep in places, the sun can't get through to the water. You could also try a jeep safari into the mountains, a trip down river in the Dalyan Delta to see the ancient rock tombs or white water rafting! You can book through Abi Travel, who are located in the middle of Kalkan, or check out what other excursion companies have on offer. Sunshine is virtually guaranteed here during Spring and Summer.

Many ancient sites are easily accessible from Kalkan, including Patara, Xanthos, Letoon, Tlos and Pinara. Aspendos, Demre, Kekova, Myra, Olympos and Phaselis require a slightly longer journey but are well worth the trip.
