One thing every visitor to Kalkan agrees on, is that the gastronomic experience is wonderful!

Kalkan at night
Whether you choose to dine out or prepare a meal in our well-equipped kitchen, you will find a variety of fresh produce, meat, fish and spices.
Just round the corner from the villa road is a well-stocked shop, selling essential supplies, with larger supermarkets in the centre. We recommend the butchers opposite the taxi rank. Try their marinaded lamb chops for the BBQ! Just down the steps by the taxi rank, there are fishmongers and fruit & veg stalls.
A typical dish is their version of pancakes, which are made from paper-thin circles of dough. The skill the women possess, to produce the perfectly symmetrical dough circles is astounding. They come with savoury or sweet fillings. Washed down with strong Turkish tea, they make a great breakfast.
Apart from charming eateries, Kalkan has a great selection of cafes and bars, including Yali, Moonlight, Yachtpoint and Mojito.
When it comes to eating out, you are totally spoilt for choice. There are still many establishments we've yet to try but some of our favourites are below:
- Sofra - terrific views over the bay; fabulous lamb on the bone & real Turkish bread
- Ibo - great views and superbly cooked food; try the Islamlar chicken; they offer complimentary starters, fruit & liquer
- Aubergine - near the harbour, upmarket restaurant with great service and lovely food.
- Belgin Kitchen - ottoman style seating & traditional, live music downstairs
- Caya - super steaks & fish cakes, plus the owner Kaddir performs close magic at your table!
- Olive Garden - Excellent menu; we love the home-made olive bread & tasty selection of dips
- Lime Tree - my favourite pizzas and fabulous pasta dishes; terrific view of the harbour
- Marina - great for lunch or dinner, right next to the harbour; own bread oven; salads & pasta served in crispy pastry shell
- Isos - set in an ancient building, with tons of atmosphere; very reasonable food, beautifully prepared.
- Kalamaki - head waiter at Ibo's started this in 2009 and we had one of the best meals there!
- Ali Babas - terrific value and full of Turkish diners
- La Terrazza (previously Zeki's) - great spot, great food, lovely owners (sticky toffee pudding fab)
- Alternatif - Mustafa will give you a warm welcome; super food!
